The Finishing House is a specialist painting and decorating firm working in Central London and the surrounding prime locations — Mayfair, Belgravia, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Marylebone and the neighbouring areas. We finish high-value period and contemporary homes for clients who notice the difference between a job and a finish.

We are a close-knit team who have worked together for years — the same faces on every project, never subcontracted out. One senior decorator leads each commission from first survey to final walk-through, so nothing is lost along the way and there is always a single person accountable for the result.

Specified in writing

Before any work begins, we set out a written specification: the scope, the systems, the finishes and a fixed price. You know exactly what you are getting, and what it costs, before we lift a brush — no day-rate surprises.

Preparation is the work

More than half of every programme is preparation — dust-controlled sanding, filling and repair, and the correct primer for each substrate. It is unglamorous and largely invisible, and it is where the finish is genuinely won.

A clean, snag-free handover

Zero snags at handover is the standard, not the aspiration. We finish with a joint daylight walk-through and touch-ups on the spot, and return the home clean — with labelled paint and a record of every product used, left with you. What we see in our clients' homes stays private, as a matter of course.
