The Finishing House / Areas / Pimlico
Painters & decorators in Pimlico.
Pimlico's elegant Cubitt stucco terraces and garden squares share Belgravia's heritage and demand the same understanding of lime, breathability and conservation. We work to all three.

Laid out by Thomas Cubitt in the 19th century, Pimlico shares the white stucco architecture and garden squares of its grander neighbour Belgravia, in a quieter, residential register. Much of it lies within the Pimlico Conservation Area, where the uniform terraces and their painted façades define the district's calm, classical character.
The properties we work in
Pimlico is defined by its handsome Cubitt-era stucco terraces around the garden squares, alongside period flats and townhouses. The stucco façades, classical detailing and wrought-iron balconies are the area's signature — and, as in Belgravia, its principal decorating challenge, demanding finishes that look immaculate while respecting the historic fabric beneath.
Stucco, lime & breathability
Cubitt stucco and lime plaster must breathe. Modern acrylic coatings can trap moisture behind historic masonry and accelerate decay. Where the substrate calls for it we specify breathable mineral and lime-based systems and traditional oil finishes, chosen for vapour permeability as much as appearance — the difference between a façade that endures and one that blisters.
Conservation-correct finishes
Pimlico's conservation guidance maintains the consistency of its terraces, typically keeping external colour within established off-whites and creams. We work within Westminster planning controls and conservation requirements, so the work is correct in process as well as appearance.
